New Solutions for Agri & Africa Focussed Specialist Solar Company NeXEnergy
by eVantage Group
NeXEnergy, a specialist solar pv business that is part of the, eVantage Group, a proud new member of the Agribusiness Development Corporation (ADC), has a strategic focus on African and agricultural markets. New solutions that they are now offering is expected to dramatically enhance solar yields and/or bring decentralised power to rural areas.
NeXEnergy is headed up by Craig Brehany, a very experienced solar engineering professional, who, whilst now based in South Africa, also has many years working experience across both West and East Africa.
“Craig’s solar experience in South Africa is very extensive and includes significant installations at a number of large listed SA corporates, property companies and co-ops” said eVantage Group Managing Director, Andrew Barton.
Of particular relevance to the agri and African markets, where space allows for ground mounted systems, is a game changing newly patented mounting system that has been shown to double the solar yield from a designated area. Traditional mounting systems are north facing and need to be spaced to avoid shade interference. By contrast, this patented racking system has a different orientation, thereby producing more during a day than one that only faces north. Further, there are comparatively far lower installations costs & quicker installation. More than 200mW’s have already rolled out across the globe, including the US, Europe, Australia and the Middle East and have been certified for hurricane strength conditions and snow loads.
Where there is a fixed amount of land available and/or budget, this is a game changer. Yield increases of 225% have been proven vs traditional systems. The cost of solar panels has dramatically reduced in recent years, already making solar a very affordable alternative; this racking system & approach will further enhance the economics.
There are an estimated 600 million Africans without access to electricity. Authorities believe that decentralised minigrids would be the ideal solution to being power to at least half of those currently without. Craig has designed containerised minigrid options, that enable ease of local deployment. They are modular and can be expanded over time. It is possible for them to be integrated with containerised water purification solutions and, separately, sewerage treatment solutions available through another eVantage company, Rhino Water.
NeXEnergy is solely focused on solar energy, utilising only bankable Tier 1 equipment and with a passion for excellence.
